Faculty Successes
Spring 2005
Professor Emeritus Joseph K. Meyers and his wife Violette Vernaud Meyers, a former instructor at IPFW, have been teaching voice master classes at the Patel Conservatory of the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center. Since their retirement from the Department of Music in 1995 they have presented concerts and master classes at universities and conservatories in the principle cities of Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Costa Rica, Egypt, England, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Peuerto Rico, Taiwan, Thailand, and the united States. They settled in the Tampa Bay area in 2000.
Gregg Gausline, PhD, recently became a member of the Phi Beta Mu International Bandmasters’ Fraternity and has been invited this summer to conduct at the 2005 World Association of Symphonic Bands and Ensembles (WASBE) International Conference in Singapore. He also had an article published in the “Teaching Music Through Performance in Band” series by GIA Publications. Gausline has recently been contacted by FJH Music Publishers to develop a “Band Warm-up” in collaboration with composer Brian Balmages, to be distributed nationally.
Associate Professor Barbara Resch, PhD and Melissa Reinhardt, interim director of music therapy made a presentation at the Indiana Music Educators Conference in January 14, 2005 entitled “Orff-Schulwerk Applications for Students with Special Needs.”
