Fresh off the "Dancing with the Stars" TV show, Marie Osmond dazzled the record crowd of 1,400 women with her engaging tale of growing up with all those brothers, her time in show businesses, her battle with post-partum depression and the loss of her mother to a stroke. The record crowd and tremendous sponsorships added $63,000+ to the Tapestry Parkview Endowment Fund which is now at $210,000!

Two women received full year scholarships to IPFW's College of Health and Sciences. In total, 17 women have received scholarships as a result of Tapestry: A Day for Women.

Attendees were entertained and educated at the breakout sessions which included everything from heart disease to green gardening to empowered living to latin dance. And, of course, there was shopping. Over 100 tradeshow and boutique booths tempted the attendees with free giveaways and significant discounts. Tapestry 2008 had it all!

We laughed. We cried. We shared. We dreamed. Tapestry 2007 was a magical day starting with Jana Stanfield, motivational singer/songwriter from Nashville, TN. A record number of shopping/sponsor booths greeted our record attendance of 750 women!

Our breakout sessions included lighter topics such as fashion, cooking, dance. We had a hands-on spa. And other options included dealing with loved ones' depression, overcoming life's obstacles, and aging and memory loss.

Patty Duke was our keynote speaker and she shared stories of her life, her career, and her struggles with bipolar disorder. This very successful year ended with a giant leap of our Parkview Tapestry endowed scholarship fund...now over $150,000!

Tapestry 2006

Keynote Speaker; Linda Ellerbee

Excitement and laughter led the way for our 5th annual Tapestry: A Day for Women. Linda Ellerbee spoke on "Surviving to Laugh Another Day" and recounted her career trials and her health problems...and how she laughed her way through it all!

This year, the Tapestry scholarship funded a full-semester's tuition for a very deserving young woman to help in the pursuit of her health sciences degree. The scholarship fund continues to grow due to the generosity of our sponsors and attendees.

Fun and educational sessions, shopping, and prizes rounded out the event as nearly 600 women networked.

Tapestry 2005

Keynote Speaker; Dana Reeve

How sad we are with Dana's passing on March 6, 2006. We are so proud we came to know her through Tapestry 2005.

What a successful fourth year we had for Tapestry! The scholarship fund is now over $100,000 thanks to the support of our sponsors and attendees! Nearly 600 women attended the event, which was moved to the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum for more room.

Dana Reeve, the chair of the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation, was the keynote speaker and talked on "Looking Forward." Dr. Elliott Engel returned to discuss "Our Slippery Mother Tongue: A Light History of the English Language."

With built in shopping times, the boutique and trade show saw increased foot traffic. Over 50 door prizes were won by the day's attendees!

Over 500 women attended the day of renewal and growth. The ever-popular Dr. Elliott Engel thrilled the crowd with his humorous talk about "Myth Emily Dickinson."

The boutique filled the ballroom of Walb Union while trade show booths covered areas in the Union and the Gates Center. Most booths offered door prizes and many women purchased the lovely centerpieces for their homes.

Marlo Thomas spoke to the over 500 women gathered for the event about “The Right Words.” The returning Dr. Elliott Engel wowed the group with his explanation about the “Brilliant and Bizarre Brontes.”

Both the boutique and trade show were part of the day.

Tapestry 2002

Keynote Speaker; Erin Brokovich

The first Tapestry event, held in April 2002, raised over $25,000 for scholarships for women in health-related fields and allowed for the endowment of the Tapestry/Parkview Health Sciences Scholarship. Additionally, two students benefited from scholarships from Tapestry funds in 2002.

Erin Brokovich was the keynote speaker on “The Power of One”. The breakfast speaker was the energetic Dr. Elliott Engel speaking about “Common Threads: The Story of Margaret Mitchell and Scarlett O’Hara.”
