Any graduating IPFW student that is currently or has formally honorably served in the Military is eligible to wear a red, white and blue cord at the Commencement ceremony. Details and contact information can be found on the Military Student Services website.
A wide array of honors organizations recognize outstanding achievement in service, philanthropy and scholarship. IPFW is proud of all its students who fulfill the requirements for membership in these important societies, but on Commencement Day the university singles out those honor societies that emphasize academic achievement.
To become a member of one the honor societies listed below, students must achieve a minimum Grade Point Average of 3.0 overall. Graduates who are members of these nationally recognized honor societies may also wear their societies’ honors cords or medallions during Commencement. Students may purchase the appropriate cords directly from the various society headquarters or the local chapter. Websites are provided. Cords become the property of the student.
Alpha Kappa Delta, International Sociology Honor Society. Teal cord, student may purchase.
Beta Beta Beta, National Biological Honor Society. Red and green honor cords, provided to students at Induction ceremony.
Beta Gamma Sigma, International Honor Society Recognizing Business Excellence. Blue and gold cords, student may purchase.
Chi Alpha Sigma, National College Athlete Honor Society. Medal provided by local chapter.
Delta Alpha Pi, International academic honor society for students with disabilities.

Lambda Alpha, National Collegiate Honor Society for Anthropology. White stole, student may purchase.
Lambda Pi Eta, National Honor Society for Undergraduates in Communication. Gold cords for all members. Students who complete the service component are also eligible to wear red and white cords. Student may purchase.
National Society of Leadership and Success. Black and platinum cords, student may purchase.
Omicron Delta Epsilon, International Honor Society for Economics. Gold and blue cords, student may purchase.
Phi Eta Sigma, national honor society for first-year students.
Pi Mu Epsilon, National Mathematics Honor Society. Violet, gold and lavender cords, student may purchase.
Psi Chi, International Honor Society in Psychology. Platinum and dark blue intertwined double cords with mixed tassels. Student may purchase cords through local chapter.
Sigma Gamma Epsilon, National Honor Society for Earth Sciences.
Sigma Tau Delta, International English Honor Society. Red and black cords provided by English department at induction.
