FORT WAYNE,Ind.—Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) announced today (Friday, January 6) that the university will assume management of its student housing operation, effective during the fall 2017 semester. American Campus Communities (ACC) has maintained oversight of student housing since its opening in 2004.
“IPFW has greatly valued its partnership with ACC,” said George McClellan, former vice chancellor for student affairs. “They were integral to the opening of campus housing and to its development to this point. We greatly appreciate their efforts on behalf of the our students and the university.”
“With over 12 years of experience, we are confident we can take direct management of student housing and provide a quality experience and many opportunities for our student residents,” said Eric Norman, chief student affairs officer and dean of students. “The savings realized from assuming management of housing will help assure the operation is fully self-supporting.”
ACC will continue managing housing through September 30, 2017, per an existing agreement, including leasing for the summer and fall 2017 semesters. IPFW intends to offer current ACC staff members the opportunity to join IPFW and will work with student residents and housing employees to ensure a smooth transition.
