Student Housing

If you are planning on living on campus at IPFW, there are a few things to keep in mind regarding financial aid and billing in regards to your housing:

  • You will be offered the same type of financial aid whether you are in student housing or not. You do not receive anything more to pay toward your housing.
  • You will be charged for the months of July and August even though school has not begun yet. This bill will be due the first of the month.
  • If you have enough financial aid to pay your full tuition & fees for the semester and have money left over, this excess of funds will be applied toward your housing bill. If you are using your excess financial aid to cover your rent you must fill out a Deferral form with the Housing Office.
  • If you do not have enough financial aid to cover your full tuition & fees and your housing, you may pay your housing month to month (due the first of every month) or you may apply for an Outside/Private Loan or a Parent PLUS Loan. You can also use Federal Work Study pay if you have a job on campus and you have been awarded it.
  • If you have signed a 12-month lease and you are not attending summer classes (or do not have summer financial aid), you are responsible to pay your rent during the summer months.

If you have questions concerning your financial aid and housing, you may contact student housing to get an idea of what your rent will be and the Financial Aid office to see what your financial aid options are.

Please keep in mind that not all students have financial aid eligibility to pay toward housing.

Off-campus Housing

You may also look at off-campus housing options. Things to keep in mind regarding off-campus housing include:

  • Your financial aid is handled in the same manner as if you were to be in student housing; meaning you do not receive anything more to pay toward your housing costs.
  • Once your mandatory tuition and fees are paid, you will receive a refund check. You may use this refund check to pay your off- campus housing.
  • Off-campus housing is your responsibility to pay. IPFW does not have any programs set up with apartment complexes to pay those costs.

Flyers are frequently posted around campus advertising housing to rent. You can also find housing on the internet. Listed below are a few options to search for housing.
