Commencement Welcome

50th Commencement Banner

Dear Graduates:

Congratulations in achieving this important milestone! One of the proudest days for us is seeing you and your fellow graduates reach your goals. Your diploma signifies the successful completion of your academic journey. As you finish this journey, take some time to thank family, friends, and faculty members who provided you with support and encouragement along the way.

This Commencement marks IPFW's 50th graduation ceremony. That makes your accomplishment especially meaningful. Your degree carries with it the benefit of 50 years of academic excellence, outstanding faculty, and rigorous classroom instruction. I know that you will use what you have learned to make continued contributions to your work and community.

Please stay connected! I look forward to learning of your future endeavors and successes. You will soon join the ranks of more than 57,000 alumni who take pride in their alma mater. The Alumni Association welcomes your membership and participation in the many opportunities and activities available to you in the years ahead.

I encourage you to participate in Commencement and I look forward to congratulating you in person as you receive your diploma. My very best wishes to you for a future of many successes and significant accomplishments!

Information for You and Your Guests

IPFW is proud to welcome your family and friends to Commencement. Encourage your guests to visit the Family & Guests tab of this site to find information on parking and directions, accessibility, and maps.

International degree candidates may request official letters of invitation for their families.

We recommend you discuss the following with your guests:

  • parking is $5
  • the ceremony is not ticketed and there is no limit on the number of guests
  • traffic around the Coliseum will be gridlocked in the half hour preceding the 4 p.m. start of the ceremony
  • access to the arena begins at 3 p.m.
  • guests are to proceed to the audience seating area
  • the student assembly area will become very crowded so guests may not join students in this area

We advise you to prearrange:

  • a personal guest to hold your valuables during the ceremony
  • a location to meet your guests in comfort inside the Graduation Celebration in Expo II & III of the Coliseum (guest tables are numbered 1 - 100) to avoid extreme crowding in the rotunda and hallways following the ceremony - this also allows you and your guests to enjoy complimentary punch, hors d'oeuvres, and a cash bar
