Graduate Participation in Ceremony

Your seat at Commencement is reserved when you complete these two actions:

1. Purchase undergraduate or rent graduate apparel for the ceremony

2. Register to participate in the Commencement ceremony
Beginning in March, emails with personalized registration links will be sent to the candidates' student email accounts.

When is Commencement?

Wednesday, May 9, 2018, 4:30 p.m., in the arena of the Allen County Memorial Coliseum.

Who is eligible to attend the ceremony?

Students who completed degree requirements in December 2017. Students who anticipate completing degree requirements in May 2018 or either summer session 2018

Do guests need tickets for the Commencement ceremony?

No tickets are necessary for the IPFW Commencement ceremony.

When will we actually receive our diplomas?

Diplomas are handled by the Office of the Registrar. 
December and Summer graduates: will be notified by email (via their myIPFW email account) when diplomas are available 8 - 10 weeks after degree requirements are completed. 
May graduates: will be distributed immediately after the Commencement ceremony.  May graduates who do not attend the ceremony can pick up their diplomas in the Registrar's office (KT 107) beginning Monday, May 14.
Summer graduates: will be notified by email (via their myIPFW email account) when diplomas are available approximately 8 - 10 weeks after degree requirements are completed. 

What time should we be at the Coliseum?

Candidates for graduation are to be gowned and lined up by their department/degree sign in hallways of the Arena by 4 p.m. The signs include school, department, and degree.

Doors open for guests at 3:30 p.m.

Is there a rehearsal for students?

There is no rehearsal for students. Detailed instructions are emailed to your student account. Faculty marshals will lead the students throughout the ceremony. Read through the information sheet emailed to you after you purchase your cap and gown, pay attention to the speakers, and follow the leader (your faculty marshal). December graduates should continue to check their student email account throughout the spring semester.
