Ordering Video Titles

You can search the IUCAT catalog to find video titles available from the IPFW Helmke Library, selected other regional campuses in the IU system, and holdings at IU Bloomington in both Wells Library as well as ALF (Auxiliary Library Facility).

To order a video title, please follow this procedure:

  1. Login with your IPFW username and password to IUCAT using the special Fort Wayne access link. Be sure to search ALL libraries (Fort Wayne is set as the default). Conduct a search. You can use the DVD/video search option (on the right of the screen) to search only video holdings.

  2. If the item is held by Helmke, select regional campuses, or ALF, you can select "Request Delivery" to the right of your browser window to have the title delivered to your office directly.

  3. If the item is in the IU Wells Collection, open http://www.indiana.edu/~libmedia/forms/media-schedule-request.html in a new window and order the item through this online request. Please note that IPFW Faculty currently must order any IU Wells video outside of IUCAT.

Allow up to a week for delivery of videos. Also, to order videos from IPFW, select other regional campuses, and ALF, please remember that you must be logged in to IUCAT with your IPFW username and password.

Video Production Services

Faculty can borrow digital video cameras for classroom tapings. An operator may be provided in some situations. More complex video productions may be planned with the help of the video production coordinator, Cathy Dunmire. Contact 481-6518.

Videoconferencing Facilities

ITS provides a number of services in support of video based distance learning programs, campus meetings, and events. ITS operates the interactive classroom studio (ICS), in Helmke B35. A videoconferencing unit for the Indiana University-operated Virtual Indiana Classroom system (VIC), is located in Kettler G22, Kettler G20 and in Kettler 212. These facilities allow IPFW to originate a number of distance learning courses each semester with state wide distribution on the VIC system, via IHETS, on local college access cable Channel 56, by DVD, and on the desktop via streaming at http://www.college56.org/streaming.html.

Courses originating at other IU campuses around the state may also be received here at IPFW within schedule constraints and approval of the various schools, departments or units involved.
Video based courses are distributed by Continuing Education through the campus bookstore.

For information related to the origination or reception of distance learning courses, contact the manager of Instructional Video Operations at 481-6524.

Television and Satellite Reception Services

IPFW can receive analog KU and C band satellite programming. The scheduling of satellite programming for classroom viewing and recording cable television programs can be arranged by calling the manager of instructional video operations at 481-6524. The requestor is responsible for completion of all registration information and fees imposed by the program originator, and for the provision of technical specifications for the reception of the program.
