About Us
Students
In terms of majors, Biology is the largest department in the College of Arts and Sciences. We currently have nearly 400 undergraduate majors and almost 40 graduate students. We also serve about 70 students intending to transfer to Purdue University programs after some preliminary coursework here. More than half of our undergrads are pre-professional, intending to enter medical, dental, or similar programs.
Almost all of our classes are held in the new Science Building. Class sizes range from over one-hundred students in the core classes to as little as ten or fewer in the more specialized upper level courses. Biology students at IPFW enjoy a multitude of resources, ranging from an excellent faculty to modern lab equipment to on-campus research facilities. In addition to our academic resources for inquisitive minds, IPFW also offers two organizations for students to meet and share common interests in the various fields of biology.
