Study Abroad
IPFW students have a wide range of study abroad opportunities available to them through Indiana University and Purdue University. Students can choose among summer, semester, and academic-year programs in Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and South America as well as Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Some programs are geared toward specific majors, such as business, public affairs, or engineering, while others are open to a wide range of majors. For many programs, some prior knowledge of a foreign language is required; in other cases, the language of instruction is English, and in some, students can begin their study of another language during the program. Depending on the type of program, students will live with a family, in a dormitory, or in an apartment.
Financial aid can be applied to study abroad. Special scholarships for regional campus students may be available.
An advantage of choosing programs sponsored by IU or Purdue is that the credits students earn will appear on their transcripts as Indiana University or Purdue University course work, not as transfer credit.
